一直以來很喜歡收集可以唱的繪本,

去年繪本班一位家長推薦一本跟月份有關、旋律又好聽的繪本

直到最近才有機會在幼稚園唸給孩子聽,當然也帶了歌 (孩子超喜歡唱的)

Skip through the Seasons介紹12個月份及每個月份的特色

例如:

Jump into January, come along with me!

The local pond is glazed with ice - what can you see?

Whirl into March, come along with me!

The wind is whistling down the street - what ccan you see?

Move into May, come along wiht me!

It's time to make our gardens grow - what can you see?

 

搭配的歌曲旋律真的很好聽,孩子很容易就能朗朗上口

自然而然地把十二個月份的英文記起來,也感受到每個月份的特色

這首歌原來的版本有段歌詞較難,因為班上的孩子多為初學者或是年紀較小,

所以我將歌詞改簡單一點

二月底,與學校教學顧問丁玟瑛老師開會

當天老師介紹一些跟天氣有關的英文童詩

回到學校馬上將其中的“Clouds"介紹給孩子

Clouds

因為之前在班上唸過Eric Carle的繪本Little Cloud  

所以孩子能很快理解這首童詩的意境,並進行改編,例如

White dog, white dog,
In a blue doghouse,
When the wind stops
You all stand still,
When the wind blows
You walk away slow,
White dog, white dog,

之前也嘗試帶過童詩,但有時因為意境不容易被孩子理解或是太長

孩子的接受度並沒有像學Nursery Rhymes那麼好

但孩子很喜歡唸這首詩,而且唸的很有聲音表情。

前陣子逛網路書店時,看到一本超級可愛的書It's a Little Book

其實去年的時候就看到他的前身 - It's a Book (聽說已經有出中文版)

那時總覺得It's a Book的內容不在學齡前孩子的生活經驗

因為裡面用到scroll down, blog, tweet....等不容易跟孩子解釋的字彙

但當我看到It's a Little Book封面那穿著尿布的猴子和驢子,

就決定要將它納入藏書,並順便帶了It's a Book

 

這兩本真的都很可愛,It's a Little Book描述嬰兒剛接觸書時的反應

It's a Book就像現代人的寫照,每天眼睛盯著智慧型手機或是平板電腦

三月帶幼兒英語童謠班的孩子唸唱

Little Miss Muffet

Little Miss Muffet

Sat on a Tuffet,

Eating her curds and whey.

Along came a spider,

That sat down beside her

And frightened Miss Muffet away.

 

孩子一看到童謠插畫時說:Little Miss Muffet is a girl. 跟Little Po Beep一樣

(Little Bo Beep的童謠先前教過了!)

接著,透過插畫跟孩子解釋童謠的意思。

延伸活動

1. Arts & Crafts: Dangling Spider (idea and spider pattern from "Literature Pockets Nursery Rhymes")

完成後,在中間加上一條繩子就像一隻spider從蜘蛛絲上垂下來的樣子。

告訴孩子:Bring home the dangling spider and frighten your daddy, mommy, sister,

brother, grandpa, or grandma.

 

2. A Flap Book - What Is Under Here?(idea from "Literature Pockets Nursery Rhymes")

將童謠分成四小段:Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet / Eating her curds and whey /

Along came a spider who sat down beside her / And frightened Miss Muffet Away

分別貼在翻翻書上方的四個格子裡,

將 tuffet / curds and whye / spider / frightened 分別貼在翻翻書下方的四個格子裡,

讓他們分別對應到童謠的四小段歌詞

 

3. Phonemic Awareness Activity:

將童謠裡的單字 Muffet, tuffet, curds, whey, spider, her, away 寫在白板上

每次唸其中倆個單字,問孩子:Do they rhyme? 

例如:Muffet / tuffet (Yes!), Muffet / away (No!), whey / spider (No!), whye / away (Yes!)

接著將白板上的字全部擦掉,寫上單字spider, 將spider的發音拆成三個聲音sp - i - der,特別強調long i的聲音

告訴孩子接下來會聽到很多字(有長 i 音的字,也有其他母音的字),請他們聽聽看這些字是不是也有long i sound

幼兒英語閱讀班的孩子這個月完成小書:What Will You See at the Zoo?

(Booklet Title, Animal Patterns and Pocket Page Pattern are from the book: I Can Make It! I Can Read It!)

 

這是一本可以唱的小書,孩子很快就能朗朗上口

What will you see at the zoo? A sleepy zebra.  

What wll you see at the zoo? At the zoo? At the zoo?

(孩子邊唱邊指小書上的字,可以知道英文閱讀是由左到右,由上到下)

帶孩子會唱此首歌後,老師將sight words: see, you, at 還有單字zoo寫在白板上

讓孩子邊唱邊指所唱到的字

最後讓孩子在小書上找出see, you, at, and zoo

(ps. 因為我們是幼兒班,所以直接將學習單影印給孩子上色。大一點的孩子,可以讓他們自己畫,會更有創意)

今天打開facebook,看到兩位老師介紹敦煌繪本打五折(4.1 ~ 5.30)

雖然敦煌的書定價較貴,但五折還蠻令人心動的~~

所以傍晚時就去逛一下,買了六本,花了不到$800

有興趣的人可以去逛一下喔!

3.31早上到文化中心兒童館說故事,

10點多一點就到會場,有繪本唱遊班的家長已經到了,聊了一下將東西準備好,

來聽故事的孩子也陸續到來!

首先跟孩子唱Good Morning SongKnock Knock Hello! 

(from the album " Super Simple Songs)

因為Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes繪本裡提到水果strawberries, blue berries兩種水果,

所以先帶入繪本Strawberries Are Red 介紹水果名稱和顏色單字

 接著將水果模型放到地上,清唱Super Simple Songs裡的I See Something Blue

Red, I see something red. Red, I see something red.

Red, red, red, red, I see something red.

Find something red.

然後孩子拿起紅色的水果,如strawberry, apple

green: apple, starfruit

yellow: banana

purple: grapes

接著,進入Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes

這是一本簡單,詞彙句型重復性高的繪本,

可以邀請孩子一起說出顏色的英文單字

繪本中一直出現的Oh, no! Goodness, no!

和唱I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes, I love my red shoes.

不同於過去幾週先講繪本再帶活動,這週直接帶孩子先玩遊戲

Activity: Go!

針對這週第一次上課的孩子,讓他們做walk, run, tiptoe等簡單的動作

已經有英文學習經驗的孩子,walk, run, tiptoe, jump外,

還沿用先前的一些animal walks動作 - Cat Stretch, Elephant Swing, Frog Frolic

當老師說:"Go!" 孩子根據老師的指令做動作,

聽到哨音響起,所有的孩子暫停動作並數one, two, three......直到再聽到"Go!"

Here are Grandma's glasses, (fingers around eyes)

Here is Grandma's hat, (hands on head)

This is the way she folds her hands, (fold hands)

And lays them in her lap. (folded hand in lap)

(原本的手指謠裡還有第二段,但我只帶入第一段)

除了讓孩子動手玩,我還讓孩子戴上近來很流行的Hello Kitty眼鏡和魔術帽

並將Grandma換成孩子的名字,這樣可以反覆讓孩子聽到手指謠的內容又不會覺得很煩

因為聽到自己的名字,孩子都超開心的

孩子看完繪本,用Go Away, Big Green Monster! Storytelling Puppet Kit

讓大小孩進行口語練習,老師問:What does Big Green Monster have?

孩子回答:two big yello eyes, long nose, big red mouth....

然後組合出Big Green Moster

然後說Go away, scraggly purple hair, two little sqyiggly ears.....

Activity: Hello or Go Away!

準備數個先前介紹過的動物手指偶,有可愛的也有可怕的

讓孩子戴上finger puppet, 

如果是可愛的動物,孩子就說:Hello, Cow / Sheep / Rabbit...

如果是可怕的動物,孩子就說:Go away, Shark / Mouse / Lion...

 

Activity: Guessing Game 

老師準備繪本Who Am I? (因為裡面有許多先前介紹過的動物)

將裡面的謎題唸給大小孩聽(不看書),孩子根據聽到的key words 

如I moo and make milk for you (cow), I am pink, oink is my sound (pig)....

猜猜看是哪種動物?猜對後,老師再打開書讓孩子看圖片。

小小孩和新生,直接翻開書唸謎題,讓孩子看圖示說出動物名
